maori language week

This past few days room 11 have been celabrating maori language week and have enjoyed every moment! On monday we had the kapa haka group from Waiuku College come, they were amazing. On Thursday Marino, Whaea Josie's mum, made all the class rooms Maori bread delicious!!!

Every day Atea and Maioro came to every class trying to encourage more people to get involved with the Maori culture by teaching us words to do with Kai (food). We have had things like singing songs, naming food like canned food, fruit and veges.

It has been an awsome week but that's not all...we are now waiting to find out who will win the best Koru design competition and the Waiuku Primary kapa haka group will be participating in the Friday assembly at 12.15. Thank you Whaea Josie for organising such a great week!!

OUR BLOGGING GUIDE LINES!

Room 11 have discussed how to keep safe while we are online and using our blog and we came up with these guidelines. We have all agreed that we will follow these guidelines to keep us safe.

We have AGREED that...

*We will only use our FIRST name and will NEVER give out personal details such as phone numbers and addresses

*We will tell our family members and friends to only comment using their FIRST names or describe themselves as 'Daniel's Mum' (for example)

*We will get our teacher to CHECK all posts before they are published

*We will only use the blog for SCHOOL stuff, not as a social networking site

*We will use APPROPRIATE language and do our best not to offend others

*We will use CORRECT english and save text language for our phones

*We will ask others for their PERMISSION before publishing their work or photos

Our blog is a positive place for us to share our school life with friends, family and whanau.

All comments are "moderated" by Ms P, which means she checks them and they have to be approved before they are published onto our blog.

It is VERY important to keep SAFE online so we have all agreed to these guidelines.

Little Riddle to End the Week

Everyone has been working so hard in class this week so time to smile and answer this little ditty:
Before Mt Everest was discovered what was the tallest mountain in the world?

Remember I want to see everyone with a POSITIVE ATTITUDE tomorrow so we can convince the powers that be that room 11 deserves to keep our scholar points.

Scholar Point opportunity!!!

It's been great to see that some of you have been here to have a look and hopefully it means you have also shown your parents and whanau where to come when they want to check out what you really get up to each week. Also thank you to all those who got their forms signed and back to me quickly - remember if you didn't don't forget because its the only way I can let you lose on here.

Riddle of the week: How can a cowboy ride into town on Friday stay two days and then ride out on Friday? The first three people who give me the answer (once I am actually in the classroom and have put my stuff down!!!) win 10 scholar points :O)

See you all with a POISITIVE ATTITUDE tomorrow
